Data Deletion Request – Hangout

 This page explains how users of Hangout (“the App”) can request deletion of their personal data.

How to request data deletion

Users can request deletion of their data at any time using one of the following methods:

Option 1: In the app

  1. Open the Hangout app

  2. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account

  3. Follow the instructions to confirm the deletion request

Deleting your account will also delete the personal data associated with that account.

Option 2: Request via email

If you cannot access the app, you may request data deletion by email:

Please include:

  • The email address, phone number, or username used to register

  • Any additional details needed to identify your account

We may ask you to verify ownership of the account before processing the request.

What data will be deleted

When a valid data deletion request is processed, we delete or anonymize the following data associated with your account:

  • Account information (username, profile details, avatar)

  • Friends or contacts added in the app

  • Chat messages and conversation history stored on our servers

  • Game activity and interaction data linked to your account

Data retention period

  • Data deletion requests are typically completed within 30 days after verification.

  • Some data may be retained temporarily where required for:

    • legal obligations

    • security, fraud prevention, or abuse detection

    • enforcing our terms and policies

After the retention period, retained data is permanently deleted or anonymized.

Data that may be retained (limited cases)

Certain information may be kept for a limited time, such as:

  • Compliance and audit records

  • Security and anti-abuse logs

  • Legal or regulatory records (if required)

This retained data is protected and not used for normal app operations.
